iSonic

iSonicIsonic is an alternative rock band laced with elements of Electronic, Dance, Punk, Rap and 80's Pop Music. The band was conceived in 2006 by guitarist Tomii Sonic (Tom Nelson) and lead vocalist Jeffery Snow, who form the core of Isonic. The band also includes guitarist Jason Denoncourt, bassist Sam Wallace and drummer Jesse Hayward.

Although Isonic has a truly unique sound of their own, many musical influences can be found in the group's makeup, such as: Nine Inch Nails, Orgy, White Zombie, Disturbed, Korn, Linkin Park, Deftones, Pantera and Static- X, to name a few. Their sampled electronic hip-hop and industrial beats fused with distorted drop tuned guitars and bass, paired with Snow's searing, gut wrenching, yet at time melodic vocals are contrasted by Isonic's rap attacks. This combination makes this group instantly recognizable with a global appeal.

The bands lyrics and musical compositions are written by Thomas Nelson a.k.a. Tomii Sonic and Jeffrey Snow. The concept for Isonic evolved in the late nineties, when Tomii was working as a session musician in Florida. The projects Tomii worked on included several Hip-hop/R&B projects with names such as Dennis Scott (Orlando Magic), Troy Hudson (Minn. Timber Wolves); Rap projects with artists such as Pitbull, Reddiray, and other recording projects with the likes of Chris Kirkpatrick (N'Sync), Chingy, DJ Shu and countless others.

Feeling limited in the constraints of the urban pop music genre, Tomii began writing and formulating the general concept and foundation for what is now the band Isonic. This formula blended all of the past influences of Dance/Electronica/Club, Rap/Hip-hop/R&B, Rock/Industrial/Alternative, with a retro 80's pop twist into one nutshell, so to speak. All of the things Tomii learned from his years working in the US with "big name" producers, A&Rs, playing live and studio performances, being involved with artist street team promotions and fashion design would culminate as tools to create Isonic. In 2005, Tomii returned home to New Brunswick to fully develop the concept. He was introduced to Jeffrey Snow by a mutual friend. After hearing Snow's vocal abilities, Tomii immediately knew that Jeff was the vocalist he had been searching for. Snow had the mindset and composure of a seasoned and experienced musician, although he had never been in a band before. Snow was instantly fascinated with the entire Isonic concept and quickly proved to be much more than "just a great singer". He turned out to be the perfect writing partner for Tomii and all of the band's songs and sounds are a direct result of the chemistry between these two musicians.
