Kevin Chase is living proof that hard work and determination will yield results. For the past 10 years, he has travelled the country, performed at many prestigious festivals (like the Calgary Stampede) and clubs, made national TV appearances, released two critically acclaimed albums, received ECMA nominations and had 2 Top 40 hits. Not too shabby for a regular guy from Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.

What sets Kevin Chase apart from other singer/songwriters is the passion for the songs he writes; the ability to write lyrics that “hit home”, his incredible voice and complex, yet simple sounding arrangements. Not to mention a work ethic that is hard to beat. It is no wonder that Kevin Chase appeals to an ever increasing number of devoted fans across Canada and the US, many of which have been with him since the first album.

2009 brought a lot of excitement to the Chase camp. With a new management company to back him up, Kevin worked on a new (his third) CD that will please all of his current fans and, in all likeliness, will introduce Chase to a lot of new ones. The basic fundamentals are still the same, but there is somewhat of a new direction here as well, as some of the new material has lots of cross-over potential.

“Country music has come a long way,” says Chase. Kevin has been influenced by some of the front runners of developing new styles of the art form, like Garth Brooks, Keith Urban, George Strait and Brad Paisley. “Toss these guys into a pot, add me to it and give it a good stir,” jokes Chase, “you’d end up with what the new material sounds like. It’s really exciting stuff.”

Most of 2009 was spent on writing new material, recording the upcoming CD “Round 3” and tightening up the new band. “We’ve played a few shows to test out the new material,” says Kevin, “and the responses to the new stuff have been nothing short of fantastic. The new band has a lot more of an edge and we are creating a real party atmosphere. People have been digging it and it is wonderful to see such strong responses to new material that the folks never heard before.”

“Round 3” is going to be a testament to the growth of Kevin Chase as a songwriter, musician, artist and performer. Besides some of the new band members, there will also be some guest appearances, most notably Kenny Greer of Tom Cochrane & Red Rider and The Roadhammers fame, who is providing his unique pedal steel guitar sounds to the songs.

“We wanted to take our time with this album,” says Kevin. “Round 3 is my third album and I want to deliver a knock-out punch. The songs are very strong, we have some great arrangements and fantastic players contributing and I made the decision before we started to take my time with this one and be 100% happy with it. Not that I wasn’t pleased with my first two CDs, but looking back, I would have done certain things differently.”
The final recording touches are being applied by the end of the year and then the mixing and mastering process can start to finalize the project. “Round 3” will be ready to be unleashed by early spring 2010.

With this album, Kevin Chase is also making more of a leap into technology. The album will be available digitally world-wide through Atlantica Live Records and an iPhone app is planned for the fans to interact with Kevin.

A live concert video shoot is scheduled for February 19th at the Blue Olive in Saint John, NB.

On the live front, Chase will be concentrating on playing more festivals across the country. “Festivals are just a blast to play,” he says. “Audiences are there for the experience and they appreciate and want to hear a lot of new music. It’s the perfect setting to show them what I have to offer and so far, it’s always worked well for me.”

Looks like 2010 will be a banner year for Kevin Chase. Why don’t you join him for the ride…
